Abstract

Inverse solution is used to study the influence of continental water storage on polar motion. The difference between the total excitation of the annual wobble of polar motion and its atmospheric part is assumed to be caused by water storage. We assume this to be true and obtain two parameters of a relation between water storage and precipitation which take into account evapotranspiration, runoff, and the storage time of the water flowing in the basins.
