Abstract

The elastic compliance constants of TaRe, TaW, TaMo and TaNb single crystals have been determined over the temperature range 80 °–1400 °K. These constants were then used to derive the bulk modulus, shear moduli C 44, and C′ = 1 2 (C 11−C 12 ) and the anisotropy factor. The results were also used to interpret solid solution hardening in tantalum-base alloys.
