Abstract

Abstract For the purpose of reliability estimation and lifetime determination, electrical equipment is often accelerated aged according to Arrhenius approach. The correct setup of accelerated thermal ageing is a very difficult process where the key problem is the correct determination of the ageing temperature that has to be in accordance with the used materials. Due to time and economic demands, the tendency is to accelerate the ageing process as much as possible. In this paper, it is described practically problems that happen during cable accelerated thermal ageing if the ageing temperature is disproportionately high.
