Abstract

In-reactor creep experiments were carried out on helium-pressurized 304L stainless steel tubing. The creep capsules were irradiated in row 7 of the EBR-II fast breeder reactor at an irradiation temperature of about 380° C. The hoop stress on the capsules ranged from 0 to 27.3 ksi. To date, the capsules have been irradiated to a fast fluence (> 0.1 MeV) of 1.4 × 10 22 n/cm 2 with a peak fast flux (>0.1 MeV) of 1 × 10 15 n/cm 2.sec . A steady-state creep region was found in the fluence range of around 3 × 10 21 → 1.4 × 10 22 n/cm 2 (> 0.1 MeV). In the steady-state region the creep rate was found to be linearly related to the hoop stress.
