Abstract

The punitive elements overlap with the educational ones in the prison architecture, making the penal system flawed in the goal of social reintegration. As a result, there is na increase in crime and high rates of recidvism. The architecture in turn has contributed to the repression and hostility in prison life, impairing the possibilities of improvement of the reclusive individual. This article aims to identify the main architecture factors harmful to the resocialization process and highlight the importance of the quality of the internals and externals spaces of prison to promote quality of life and through this, favor the practice of teaching and learning withing the institution. After all, it is throught education that the human beign can develop.
