Abstract

Investigations of the temperature and field dependence of high-field magnetization of amorphous Fe 40Ni 40B 20-alloys were used for an analysis of the spinwave spectrum and microstructural inhomogeneities. In the lower field range μ 0 H<0.2 T the law of approach to saturation was described by a term of the type 1 H or 1 H 2 whereas at higher fields the so-called paraeffect was found to be dominant. For the spinwave stiffness constant a value of D sp = 191 meV Å 2 was determined. The deviation from saturation in the lower field range was attributed to the magnetoelastic coupling between the spontaneous magnetization and elastic stress centres due to quasi-dislocation dipoles.
