Abstract

It is shown that the manifestation of a magnetoelastic gap in a ferromagnet is caused by the same effect that endows the Higgs boson with mass. The “easy plane” state is studied in a uniaxial ferromagnet, taking into account magnetoelastic interaction. The strain tensor components of the ferromagnet in the ground state, magnetoelastic gap, and the renormalization of the magnetic anisotropy constant, are determined.
