Abstract

The two-dimensional hierarchical Sine Gordon model in the high temperature phase is investigated both by analytical and numerical methods. We show that the “continuous hierarchical renormalization group” excludes double well fixed points in two dimensions. This might be interpreted as a hint that truncating continuous flow equations can lead to a qualitative change in the renormalization group flow.
