Abstract
The principal operating parameters-round-trip loss, small-signal gain, stimulated emission cross-section and overall efficiency-have been determined by two methods for a pulsed hollow-cathode helium-iodine laser. In addition, estimates of the scattering losses in the cavity mirrors have been determined. These are found to be small and in no cases exceed 0.25%.
