Abstract

Abstract General decision theory has grown from studies in many disciplines: economics, mathematics, operational research, philosophy, politics, psychology and statistics, to name but a few. The applications of decision theory are numerous, each drawing upon slightly different decision theoretic themes and sets of assumptions. This paper will focus on just two applications: firstly, decision analysis as practised in supporting strategic decision making; and, secondly, statistical decision theory.
