Abstract
Food industry cluster and local branding are regarded as effective strategies for local revitalization. Small and medium-sized food and related businesses from inside and outside a community are brought together in producing areas to form the food industry cluster and competitiveness enhancement for both agriculture and food industry is expected from a strategic partnership between them as they possess different kinds of management resources from one another. The food industry cluster realizes technological innovations, which leads to the development of new industries and products through mutual provision of management resources and technology transfers. Such clustering also contributes to the establishment of local brands by utilizing local resources for the creation of more jobs and yielding income growth to the community. On the other hand, Sextiary Sector (the Farmer’s Complex) business is an approach which puts emphasis on integrating mid- and downstream businesses from an individual farm producer’s standpoint. Therefore, an integrated approach which takes advantages of both the food industry cluster and Sextiary Sector characteristics is required to create added values inside the community, bringing about more income to producers and further local revitalization through the promotion of job creations and effective use of local resources.
