Abstract

Pollen of Eupomatia laurina R. Br. and of Eupomatia bennertii F. Muell. are described. The pollen of both species is subspheroidal with a zonizonasulculus (a band-like, encircling aperture at the equator). E. laurina has a less dense and more vacuolated pollen containing lipids. E. bennettii has a dense pollen with many starch granules. Differences occur in their wall layers, especially in the aperture, but basically both species have an atectate, psilate pollen of medium size.
