Abstract

Henry Mayer's life was one of continuous inquiry; his achievements in the field of political theory and Australian politics were many. Henry was one of the first serious critics of the media in this country. He had a fascination with it and he understood the importance of subjecting it to coherent, consistent criticism. It is his impact on criticism in Australia that interests the author most of all; an impact felt by critics, media reformers, and the media itself.
