Abstract

View factors or, equivalently, the direct interchange areas entering into Hottel's zone method, are computed numerically by procedures which give a fairly rapid solution. Some geometrical criteria are formulated with a view to enabling a choice of the most favourable configuration concerning the emitter—receptor radiative transfer. A number of examples for square, cubic, circular-cylinders and elliptical-cylinders support the results and the validity of the criteria proposed.
