Abstract

The electric field gradients at the atomic positions of CeCu 6 and CeCu 5Au have been calculated by means of the Wien2k program. The main axes of the electric field gradient tensors of the various Cu sites are inclined by different angles with respect to the axes of the orthorhombic unit cell, leading to an extraordinary variety of anisotropies. The results are used to assign the Cu NQR and NMR frequencies.
