Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of postural control through neck support on swallowing ability of children with swallowing disorder. Methods: Twenty-eight swallowing disabilities children were randomly divided into two groups. oth groups were administered 30 minutes a day for 5 times a week for 12 weeks according to the respective intervention methods. Outcome measures included Functional Dysphagia Scale(FDS), Penetration Aspiration Scale(PAS), and Electromyography(EMG). Results: The FDS, PAS, and the EMG score increased significantly(p<.05) in the group with postural control training before and after the experiment. Conclusion: Swallowing training through posture control is an effective treatment.
