Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of this letter is to report some new results of CdS films after gamma-irradiation. CdS film was deposited under a vacuum of 10 to the minus 6th power torr on a sapphire substrate (with C-axis perpendicular to the face of the substrate). All measurements were made at room temperature, and under very strong illumination the photocurrent was about three orders of magnitude higher than the dark current. The radiation source was a cobalt 60 gamma cell whose average dose rate was 0.9028 x 10 to the 6th power rads/hr determined by ferrous-sulphate dosimetry and whose temperature was 37C.
