Abstract

A study conducted in a busy prenatal clinic in an effort to prove that continuity of nursing care will decrease the missed appointment rate of prenatal patients is reported. While the missed appointment rate does not directly measure the quality of care, it may be a rough indicator of whether the needs of these patients are being met. In this instance, patients who saw the same nurse at each appointment missed fewer appointments than those who were seen by different nurses.
