Abstract

1. 1. Chlorpromazine and ethanol in doses of 0.5–1.0 mg. per kg. have been shown to depress the release of acetylcholine from the feline cerebral cortex. 2. 2. It is suggested that this interference with the ACh-releasing system, which may be due to an action on the reticular arousal system of the brain-stem, could be involved in the analgesic action of these substances.
