Abstract

Three kinds of carbon-modified electrodes on stability of lithium metal deposition were investigated. Results indicated the amorphous carbon-modified electrode is more effective to improve initial Coulombic efficiency than the graphitized carbon-modified electrode. With high porosity (81%) and amorphous crystal structure, the low cost micro-hollow carbon fiber foam electrode provides high and stable Coulombic efficiency of 99.5% for more than 100 cycles when the areal capacity of electrode approaches 6mAh·cm−2. The high areal capacity of high porosity electrode would be a promising anode for lithium-sulfur battery.
