Abstract

A preclinical study using a granular gelatin preparation (with and without the addition of tetracycline HCL), Gelfoam powder, and a control was performed to determine if these substances have any detrimental effects on the healing of experimental bone defects. All defects were essentially healed within 7 weeks; the control group and the granular gelatin preparation with tetracycline group exhibited the least inflammation over the healing period.
