Abstract

In this paper the effect of telephone survey sample design on discriminant analysis is studied. The population is divided into two groups and a superpopulation model with multivariate normal distribution is assumed for the variables. The learning sample is composed of the randomly generated telephone numbers which correspond to the eligible population units (RDD). The rate of misclassification of the discriminant function and the effect of sample design on this rate of misclassification are discussed.KeywordsDiscriminant AnalysisRDD surveysMisclassification rate
