The Effect of Six Weeks Plyometric Box Jump and Drop Jump Training on Leg Muscle Explosive Power and Strength

The purpose of this study is to enhance the performance of athletic athletes through plyometric box jump and plyometric drop jump training methods. Thirty selected athletes meeting the criteria underwent a pretest to determine the grouping into the plyometric box jump, plyometric drop jump, and control groups. A back leg dynamometer was used to measure leg muscle strength, while the jump MD test was used to assess leg muscle explosive power. Each group underwent progressive training for six weeks, with three training sessions per week. The results of the paired sample t-test showed that the plyometric box jump training method had a significant effect on both leg muscle strength and explosive power. Meanwhile, the plyometric drop jump training method demonstrated a significant effect on leg muscle strength. It can be concluded that both plyometric box jump and plyometric drop jump training methods are effective for improving the two key physical components: leg muscle strength and explosive power.

Accelerated Loss of Skeletal Muscle Strength in Older Adults With Type 2 Diabetes

It has been shown that adults with either long-standing type 1 or type 2 diabetes had lower skeletal muscle strength than nondiabetic adults in cross-sectional studies. The aim of the study was to investigate longitudinal changes of muscle mass and strength in community-dwelling older adults with and without type 2 diabetes. We examined leg and arm muscle mass and strength at baseline and 3 years later in 1,840 older adults aged 70-79 years in the Health, Aging, and Body Composition Study. Regional muscle mass was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry, and muscle strength was measured using isokinetic and isometric dynamometers. Older adults with type 2 diabetes (n = 305) showed greater declines in the leg muscle mass (-0.29 +/- 0.03 vs. -0.23 +/- 0.01 kg, P < 0.05) and strength (-16.5 +/- 1.2 vs. -12.4 +/- 0.5 Nm, P = 0.001) compared with older adults without diabetes. Leg muscle quality, expressed as maximal strength per unit of muscle mass (Newton meters per kilogram), also declined more rapidly in older adults with diabetes (-1.6 +/- 0.2 vs. -1.2 +/- 0.1 Nm/kg, P < 0.05). Changes in arm muscle strength and quality were not different between those with and without diabetes. Rapid declines in leg muscle strength and quality were attenuated but remained significant after controlling for demographics, body composition, physical activity, combined chronic diseases, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. In older adults, type 2 diabetes is associated with accelerated loss of leg muscle strength and quality.

This study aims to determine the relationship between leg muscle strength and abdominal muscle strength on shooting skills in futsal. This research is motivated by the lack of basic shooting techniques among students. Based on this background, the researcher conducted a study to analyze the correlation between leg and abdominal muscle strength with shooting skills. This study used a quantitative correlational method to explain the relationship between variables. The population of this study consisted of 23 students participating in the futsal extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. The research applied total sampling, making all 23 students the sample. The instruments used were a leg dynamometer, sit-up test, and target goal test. Data analysis utilized a correlation test with a 5% significance level. The results showed that: (1) There is a significant relationship between leg muscle strength and shooting skills, with a Pearson correlation test result of 0.979. (2) There is a significant relationship between abdominal muscle strength and shooting skills, with a Pearson correlation test result of 0.985. (3) This explains that if students have good leg and abdominal muscle strength when shooting, their shooting performance will improve.

Analysis Of The Relationship Between Leg Muscle Strength And Leg Power In School Students' Athletic Performance

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the relationship between leg muscle strength and leg muscle power on students' athletic performance at school. Methodology: The method used is correlational research with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 19 students selected by purposive sampling. The instruments used include a leg dynamometer to measure leg muscle strength, and a vertical jump test to measure leg muscle power. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman's rho correlation test. Main Findings: The results showed a significant relationship between leg muscle strength and power and students' athletic performance (p = 0.046 &lt; 0.05). This study confirms the importance of leg muscle strength and explosive power in supporting achievements in athletics, especially running and jumping. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a novel insight by specifically examining the direct correlation between leg muscle strength and leg power as distinct yet interrelated components influencing athletic performance among school students a demographic often overlooked in biomechanical performance research. The findings provide new evidence on how targeted development of these physical attributes can enhance students' performance in school-level athletics.

The Effect of Plyometric Exercise towards Agility, Speed, Strength and Explosive Power of Leg Muscle

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of hurdle box drill with the stick, jump and speed hurdle lateral, and lateral hurdle jump exercises on agility, speed, strength, and explosive power of leg muscles. The sample group of the study consisted of 33 students who participated in badminton FIO UNESA. The methodology used was quantitative research with quasi-experimental methods. The result showed that group I had enhancement on the muscular strength of the limbs for 2.89, speed for −0.003, agility 0.1 and leg muscle explosive power for 1.42. Group II had the strength of the lower limbs for −1.04, speed 0.09, agility −0.19 and leg muscle explosive power 0.85 and group III had limbs muscle strength increased for 0.43, speed 1.18, agility 0.36 and leg muscle explosive power 0.71. Therefore, it can be concluded that these three exercises affected the agility, speed, strength and explosive power of leg muscle.

The background of this research is the low kick speed of the PSHT Pencak Silat athletes from the UNDHARI Commissariat. Efforts to overcome these problems require training Leg Muscle Explosive Power and Waist Flexibility. This study aims to find out whether leg muscle explosive power training and waist flexibility have an effect on the sickle kick speed of PSHT pencak silat athletes. This research is a type of quantitative research using an experimental method approach. While the form of research design used is "one-group pretest-posttest design". The population of this study were all PSHT pencak silat athletes with a total of 10 sons and 10 daughters. The sample of this research is the PSHT PSHT commissariat UNDHARI athletes. The data collection technique used in this study used the leg muscle strength and waist flexibility tests. The data analysis technique used in this research is the normality test and hypothesis testing through SPSS 20 at the level of 0.05. The results of the research show that training on leg muscle explosive power and waist flexibility has a good influence on the results of the sickle kick speed of UNDHARI Commissariat PSHT pencak silat athletes, this can be seen from the pretest and posttest hypothesis test scores obtained from Commissariat PSHT pencak silat athletes. UNDHARI with gains of 0.001 and 0.002 for male athletes and female athletes. Based on the analysis performed, a significant value was obtained from the Explosive Power of the Leg Muscles and Waist Flexibility

The Contribution of Leg Muscle Explosive Power and Strength to Long Jump Ability in USK Physical Education Students Class of 2022

This study is entitled "The Contribution of Limb Muscle Explosive Power, Balance to Jumping Ability in Class XI Students of SMA Negeri 9 Banda Aceh Academic Year 2012/2013". Jumping is one of the athletic numbers whose achievement is influenced by components of physical condition such as Limb Muscle Explosive Power, Balance. This study aims to determine the contribution of Limb Muscle Explosive Power, Balance to jumping ability in grade XI students of SMA Negeri 9 Banda Aceh Academic Year 2012/2013 using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used in this study were: (1) leg muscle explosive power, measured by standing broad jump test, (2) balance, measured using stork stand test, and (3) jumping ability measured by jumping test. Data is processed using statistical techniques in the form of calculation of mean value, standard deviation (SD) and correlational test. The results obtained were as follows: (1) there was a positive and significant relationship between the explosive power of the leg muscles and the ability to jump infection by (r = 0.49), (2) there was a positive and significant relationship between balance on the ability to jump infection by (r = 0.54) and (3) there was a positive and significant relationship between the explosive power of the leg muscles and balance on the ability to jump infection by (R_ (Y.X_1 X_2 ) = 0.61). The results of hypothesis testing show that Fcalculate = 6.52 ≥ Ftable = 3.44. Therefore, the explosive power of the limb muscles and balance have a significant contribution to the ability to jump infections.

Contribution of Leg Muscle Explosive Power: Improving Basic Passing Skills in Futsal Athletes

Improving athlete performance is an integral part of a coach's skill set. Each technique has a different biomotor effect, one of which is optimizing basic passing techniques in futsal. This study aims to determine the contribution of leg muscle strength and passing skills in futsal. The population in this study consisted of 20 athletes, and the sampling method used in this study was total sampling. Thus, the sample in this study consisted of 20 athletes. The data collection instruments in this study used tests and measurements, namely passing skills and leg muscle strength. The research data analysis was tested using normality tests, linearity tests, and Pearson's correlation. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship (p &lt; 0.05) between muscle strength and passing skills, with a correlation coefficient of 0.751 indicating a strong correlation. This shows that leg muscle strength has a significant contribution to passing skills in futsal. The implications of this study lie in the contribution of leg muscle explosive power to basic passing skills in futsal, which is very important both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, this study reinforces the concept that physical ability, particularly leg muscle explosive power, is one of the dominant factors that influence the successful execution of basic techniques in futsal. These findings support coaching and motor learning theories which state that technical quality is greatly influenced by the physical condition of athletes.

Background: Physical, mental, and social well-being is defined as a condition that enables individuals to live a productive life. Exercise helps maintain health and enhances both physical and mental fitness. Volleyball, a physical sport that is increasingly popular in Indonesia, requires several physical attributes such as speed, explosive power, and agility to perform well. Sports are an effective way to maintain optimal physical and mental condition, while also fostering character, discipline, and sportsmanship. Volleyball continues to grow in popularity in Indonesia and is played at various levels of competition. The physical performance of volleyball athletes is crucial to achieving high performance, thus requiring specific training methods to improve physical attributes such as speed, power, and agility. Plyometric depth jump and plyometric box jump are two common forms of plyometric training used to improve lower limb muscle strength. However, despite the widespread application of plyometric training, the comparative effectiveness of various training methods in enhancing lower limb strength still requires further investigation. The aim of this study is to analyze and compare the effects of plyometric depth jump exercise and plyometric box jump exercise on increasing leg muscle strength in volleyball athletes. Methods: This study uses an experimental approach with a two-group pre-test and post-test design. A total of 12 selected volleyball athletes participated in a training program using either plyometric depth jump exercise or plyometric box jump exercise over a specific period. Leg muscle strength was measured using a leg dynamometer before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test to determine the difference in the effect of plyometric depth jump exercise and plyometric box jump exercise on improving leg muscle strength of Diamond Medan volleyball athletes in 2024. Results and Discussion: The results of data analysis showed a significant increase in leg muscle strength after the intervention in both the plyometric depth jump exercise group and the plyometric box jump exercise group, with the simple paired t-test showing a p-value = 0.000 (&lt;0.05). However, based on the independent t-test, a p-value of 0.326 (&gt;0.05) was obtained, indicating that there was no significant difference between the two training methods in improving leg muscle strength. Conclusion: Both plyometric depth jump exercise and plyometric box jump exercise have an effect on increasing leg muscle strength in volleyball athletes. However, no significant difference was found between the two interventions in their effect on improving leg muscle strength

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of hurdle hops and tuck jump exercises on leg muscle strength and power, as well as the different effects of hurdle hops and tuck jump exercises on leg muscle strength and power. The research method used in this study is quantitative with quasi-experimental methods, with the design of this study using a non-randomize control group pretest and posttest design, with data analysis using ANOVA. The process of data retrieval is done by testing the leg muscle strength using a strength test tool that is a leg dynamometer and leg muscle power test with a jump md, during the pretest and posttest, then the data are analyzed using SPSS 22.0 series. The target of this study was martial arts athlete Kostrad Company-C with 30 members, divided into 3 groups with each group totaling 10 people, this research was conducted for 6 weeks. Paired sample strength test results and paired sample test of leg muscle power test that the significance level of each variable obtained sig 0,000 &lt;0.05 thus there is a significant influence or difference between the pretest and posttest of the dependent variables of leg muscle strength and power, ANOVA test results on leg muscle strength and strength, showing strength, F: 12,191, sig 0,000, Power F: 4,778, sig 0.17, so it can be concluded that there are significant differences in the results of leg muscle strength and strength in three different groups, because sig &lt;0.05. From the results of the post hoc multiple comparations (LSD) test of independent variables that have a significant influence on the increase in the dependent variable, it can be seen from the mean different results that the hurdle hops group gained 31,900 strength, power 155,367,00, meaning that the hurdle hops exercise was more influential. Based on the above analysis it can be concluded that there is an increase in leg muscle strength and power for each group, through the ANOVA test. Where hurdle hops exercises have a better effect than tuck jump exercises and the control group on leg muscle strength and power.

Developing an exercise program to improve the biomotor abilities of Wushu Taolu athletes as a support for the Teng Kong Bai Lian (TKBL) movement

The aim of this study was: (1) to develop an appropriate circuit training program for biomotor improvement that supports Teng Kong Bai Lian (TKBL), (2) to examine the feasibility of biomotor improvement that supports TKBL, and (3) to examine training program effectivity. This study is a kind of Research and Development through several procedures, such as observation and data collection, planning, program development, expert validation, initial program revision, small scale trial, large scale trial, operational program revision, effectivity test, and completion program, and training program implementation. Instrument of this study consist of observation, questionnaire for expert validation, test and measurement biomotor including (1) t-test for measuring speed and agility, (2) leg dynamometer for leg strength, (3) vertical jump for leg power, (4) curl-up test for core strength, (5) modified bass test of dynamic balance for measuring dynamic balance. The results of the collected data will be analyzed using Aiken for expert validation, and small and large-scale trials, while the paired sample t-test with SPSS is used to analyze the effectiveness test. Expert validation, small-scale trial, and large-scale trial were analyzed using the Aiken method with Aiken table value, whereas the effectivity test was analyzed using paired sample t-test on the SPSS application. The result showed that expert validation for the training program was obtained above 0.80 Aiken value for all test items. The results of the effectiveness test showed a significant effect on increasing the biomotor component of leg muscle strength, core strength, leg muscle explosive power, speed and agility with a P value of 0.000, but the effect was not significant on the balance component where the P value was 0.840. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the ciccuit training program can effectively increase leg muscle strength, core strength, leg muscle explosive power, speed and agility, but does not improve balance. So this training program can be applied to Wushu Taolu athletes to improve their biomotor abilities to support the TKBL movement.Keywords: Wushu, circuit training program, strength, core strength, power, speed, agility, balance

The effect of the circuit bodyweight training method on increasing muscle strength, muscle endurance, and balance of wrestling athlete

This study aims to find out: (1) the effect of the circuit bodyweight training method on increasing muscle strength, muscle endurance, and balance of wrestling athletes, (2) the difference in the effect of the circuit bodyweight training method between the treatment group and the control group on increasing strength, muscle endurance, and balance of wrestling athletes. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pre-test design and post-test control group design. The sample in this study amounted to 77 people taken using random sampling techniques. The subjects were divided into 2 groups, namely the group given the treatment of as many as 36 people and the control group with as many as 31 people. Instruments used to measure hand muscle strength are using a hand grip dynamometer, arm muscle endurance using a push-ap, abdominal muscle endurance using a sit-ap, Leg muscle strength using a wall sit test, and balance test using a standing stork test. The data analysis technique used is an independent sample t-test followed by a paired sample t-test. The results showed that: 1) There was a significant effect of the circuit bodyweight training method on increasing muscle strength, muscle endurance, and balance in wrestling athletes, in the treatment group evidenced by data on hand muscle strength, hand muscle endurance, abdominal muscle endurance, leg muscle strength, and balance obtained a significance value smaller than 0.05 (p &lt; 0.05). 2) There is a significant difference in influence between the treatment group and the control group on increasing muscle strength, muscle endurance, and balance in wrestling athletes, as evidenced by the average value of hand muscle strength, hand muscle endurance, abdominal muscle endurance, Leg muscle strength, and balance in the treatment group was 60.46 while the average value of hand muscle strength, hand muscle endurance, abdominal muscle endurance, leg muscle strength, and balance in the control group was 48.54 with an average post-test difference of 11.92. So this study concluded that there was a significant increase in hand muscle strength, hand muscle endurance, abdominal muscle endurance, leg muscle strength, and balance before and after treatment, and there was no significant improvement in the control group. The treated group had better hand muscle strength, hand muscle endurance, abdominal muscle endurance, leg muscle strength, and balance compared to the untreated control group.

Effects of Percussive Massage on Lactate Removal, Strength and Explosive Power of Leg Muscles after Physical Exercise

The implementation of percussive massage therapy plays an important role in supporting muscle recovery, reducing fatigue, increasing blood flow, and improving flexibility and performance. However, percussive massage after physical exercise remains limited and is not widely practiced. Therefore, this study was conducted to further investigate the recovery effects of percussive massage on reducing blood lactate levels and increasing strength and explosive power in the leg muscles after physical exercise. A total of 16 participants took part in this study, evenly divided into two groups of eight. The percussive massage group (PM) had a mean age of 20.75±1.48 years, a body weight of 59.05±6.46 kg, a height of 164.50±4.37 cm, and a body mass index (BMI) of 21.90±1.96 kg/m². This group received percussive massage on their lower extremities. Meanwhile, the passive recovery group (PR) had a mean age of 20.75±1.48 years, a body weight of 63.40±5.49 kg, a height of 167.03±7.14 cm, and a body mass index (BMI) of 21.78±1.43 kg/m², and did not receive any massage. Both groups performed countermovement jump plyometric exercises consisting of 5 sets of 20 repetitions, with a 1-minute rest period between sets and repetitions. Measurements of blood lactate levels, as well as strength and explosive power of the leg muscles, were taken before and after the recovery period. The findings indicated that percussive massage therapy significantly reduced blood lactate levels (p=0.000) and enhanced leg muscle explosive power (p=0.034). Furthermore, there were significant differences in the delta (Δ) of blood lactate levels and leg muscle explosiveness between the PM group and the PR group (p=0.012 and p=0.038), while no significant differences were found in the delta (Δ) of leg muscle strength between the two groups (p=0.089). Based on the findings of this study, percussive massage therapy after physical exercise positively impacts the reduction of blood lactate levels and enhances explosive power in the leg muscles. However, it does does not have a significant effect on leg muscle strength.

DOUBLE LEG SPEED HOP AND HALF SQUAT JUMP IMPROVE LEG MUSCLE POWER

Leg muscle explosiveness is one of the factors that determine the stability of jumping techniques in football. This research aims to prove that the combined training of Double Leg Speed ??Hop and Half Squat Jump is better than the Hurdle Jump in increasing leg muscle explosive power in male students participating in extracurricular football at SMP Negeri 2 Kuta Utara. Type of this research was true experimental with randomized pre and post-test with control group design. The research subjects were 18 male extracurricular football students at SMP Negeri 2 Kuta Utara which were divided into two different treatment groups. Treatment group was given training in a combination of Double Leg Speed ??Hop and Half Squat Jump and control group was given hurdles training, with a frequency of training 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Measurement of leg muscle strength measured using a meter board with a vertical jump test. The results of the study in both groups obtained the average leg muscle explosive power before training in the combination of Double Leg Speed ??Hop and Half Squat Jump 38.49 ± 4.658 cm, while after training the combination of Double Leg Speed ??Hop and Half Squat Jump became 48.17 ± 4.305 cm. The average explosive power of leg muscles before the Skipping Jump training was 36.63 ± 3.953 cm, while after the skipping jump training was 40.79 ± 4.227 cm. The mean difference test in the increased leg muscle power in treatment group and control group using independent t-tests in the post-test data of the two groups showed that p = 0.00 (p &lt;0.05). It was concluded that the exercises in Treatment Group and Control Group both had an increased effect and in Treatment Group increased leg muscle power more than in Control Group. (2) To find out the difference in the improvement of 100-meter sprint achievement between students who have high and low leg muscle strength. (3) To determine the effect of the interaction between the Uphill sprint and Downhill Sprint training methods with the strength of the high and low leg muscles on the improvement of the 100-meter sprint performance. Experimental method in one group without comparison using pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was athletes from SMP Negeri 1 Rejoso, Nganjuk Regency, class VIII. The sample size used in this study was 32 Men athletes. The sampling technique in this study was Purposive random sampling. The variables studied are free variables consisting of two reactors, namely manipulative variables and attributive variables and one dependent variable. Manipulative variables have two treatments, including giving Uphill sprint exercises, and Downhill sprints. While the attributive variable in this study is the strength of the leg muscles which are distinguished by high and low. The dependent variable of the study is the increase in sprints of 100 meters. Data collection techniques with tests and measurements, leg muscle strength data with leg and back dynamometers. The data analysis techniques used for hypothesis testing are the 2-lane design Variance Analysis (ANOVA) and the Newman-Keuls range test, at a significance level of 95%. The results of the study that Uphill sprint training has a different improvement from Downhill sprint training. From the calculation results obtained Fhit = 12.5641 greater than Ftabel = 2.95 (F0 &gt; Ft) at a signification level of 5%. This means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This means that the Uphill sprint practice has different improvements than the Downhill sprint practice is acceptable. The results of this study showed that players who had low leg muscle strength had a 100-meter sprint increase which was different from players who had high leg muscle strength. This is evidenced by the value of Fhit = 4.2619 greater than Ftabel = 2.95 (F0 &gt; Ft) at a signification level of 5%. This means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This means that athletes who have low leg muscle strength have a 100-meter sprint that is different from high leg muscle strength players, it is acceptable. The results of this study also showed that there was an interaction between the influence of plyometric exercise and a significant level of leg muscle strength, which was shown by F0 = 23.4810 greater than Ft = 2.95 at a signification level of 5% so that H0 was rejected, so it can be concluded that there was a significant interaction between the influence of plyometric exercise and the level of leg muscle strength. Players who have low leg muscle strength are more appropriately given the Uphill sprint training treatment to increase the sprint by 100 meters. Downhill sprint training treatment is more appropriately given to athletes who have high leg muscle strength.
