Abstract

Firstly, the impact of silver (Ag) used as anode and cathode current collectors in palm shell powered Direct Carbon Fuel Cell (DCFC) was assessed. Then, the efficiency of current collection was evaluated by i) varying number of Ag current collector lead connected to electrodes and ii) applying Ag paste in various geometries on electrodes. The electrochemical reaction at cathode was found to be a limiting factor in DCFC performance. Furthermore, the balance between contact area and active area is crucial for DCFC performance. Lastly, Ag paste in mesh-like form connected with two Ag current collector leads produced best DCFC performance.
