Abstract
The current work shows the outcomes of an experimental study that is made to examine the impact of nanoparticles added to biodiesel-diesel fuel mixture. Nano-biodiesel-diesel mixture fuels were prepared by adding of Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs). These nanoparticles were blended with biodiesel-diesel (20% Jatropha+80% diesel) fuel in differing mass fractions using an ultrasonic stabilization. A diesel engine test rig was employed to investigate the effect of nanoparticles on engine performance with a constant speed of 2500 rpm and different engine loads. Using the nanoparticles was found to improve all engine performance and combustion parameters. Particularly, the best of both engine combustion characteristics and performance were reached at a dose level of 50-75 mg/l. Where the reduction in the brake specific fuel consumption was by 15 %, the increase in the cylinder peak pressure Pmax, was 6%.
