Abstract

This study sought to examine the effect of L-type corner joints used in case furniture on load carrying capacity. For this purpose, two experimental groups were involved in which polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), polyurethane and silicone gluing materials were used with calabrian pine solid panel. In one group, only mixed joint type (dowel joints and lathly joint) was used while in the other group L-type corner joint was used together with the mixed joint type. Both diagonal tension and diagonal compression tests were conducted on the groups. As a result, it was established that L-type corner joints dramatically increased the load carrying capacity.
