Abstract
This present research investigates the effects of corn stalk loading and eco-degradant on tensile properties and morphology of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)/Corn Stalk (CS) biocomposites. The increase of corn stalk loading, decreased tensile strength and elongation at break, while increased Young’s modulus. The presence of dispersion and interfacial adhesion between the corn stalk filler and thermoplastic, affects the tensile properties of the biocomposites system. In order to improve the interfacial adhesion, the incorporation of eco-degradant into LDPE/CS composites was recommended. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) revealed that the interfacial adhesion between LDPE as matrix and corn stalk powder (CSP) filler improved with the presence of eco-degradant.
