Abstract

The effect of dissolved oxygen in seawater on the performance of the SW30HR grade of the FILMTEC® FT30 membrane has been examined. Spiral wound elements were soaked in synthetic seawater solutions with pure oxygen or pure nitrogen atmosphere. The performance of the elements was followed during one year of soak time. The element performance was the same whether it had been in contact with 27 mg/L or zero dissolved oxygen. The salt passage of the elements decreased by about 40 percent during the first 0.5 year of soak.
