Abstract

The effects of certain characteristics of the magnetic field on the yield of multiply charged ions is investigated including the yield as a function of the magnetic field intensity, the inclination of the gas discharge chamber to the direction of the lines of force, and the inhomogeneity of the magnetic field (the field in the cathode and the anticathode regions is larger than in the region of the emission slit).
