Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the effect and availability of prism adaptation test in patients with intermittent exotropia. Methods: We compared the deviation angle measured with a prism and alternate cover test, with repeat measurements after one eye patching and prism adaptation. After measuring the deviation with 1 hour occlusion of nondominant eye, Fresnel prisms were placed on the patient’s spectacle correction for 30 minutes. If exotropia remained, the prism power was increased until exodeviation disappeared.
