Abstract

The Vietnamese education system has been strongly influenced by political, historical, and socioeconomic movements in the country. The establishment of education laws and policies has resulted in restructuring in the education system. These reformations have included the involvement of foreign and private sectors in the Vietnamese education markets, creating a competitive environment for higher quality education and training. One of the most innovative programmes that has been introduced in the late 20th and early 21st centuries is cooperative and work-integrated education (CWIE). An example from education in nursing provides a closer look at the recent CWIE programmes in the Vietnamese setting.
