Abstract

In Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1899, the earliest known extant motion picture featuring anesthesia was filmed by French cameraman Eugenio Py. His Elgé camera captured medical student Rodolfo Santiago Roccatagliata chloroforming a patient for lung hydatid cyst extirpation by fellow Argentine, Professor Alejandro Posadas.
