Abstract

The dynamics of Josephson tunneling for weakly interacting coupled Bose–Einstein condensates in a double well is investigated using the two mode approximation. We introduce a polar-coordinate transformation of the variables describing the imbalance of the particle populations in symmetric and asymmetric traps. It is found that by a suitable adjustment of the initial imbalance in the double well and the interaction strength of the particles it is possible to delay the oscillations of the particles from one well to another.
