Abstract

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is an intermediate grade malignancy of subcutis with frequent local recurrences. The histological diagnosis is sometimes difficult to differentiate from other mesenchymal tumors including dermatofibroma (DF) and more serious fibrosarcoma. Last year we reported a novel gene fusion in a DFSP cell occurring at the exon 26 of collagen1α2 (COL1A2) fused in frame with the exon 2 of PDGF–B gene. We also noticed the presence of known chromosomal fusion between COL1A1 and PDGF–B in some other DFSP cases.
