Summary

Introduction

Excavations supported the assumption that John the Baptist dwelt in Bethany Beyond the Jordan, which is located east of the Jordan River in the village of el-Kafrain. The early Christian pilgrims, travelers, and historians who followed the scientific method in their studies& descriptions, presented us with detailed explanations regarding the religious sites related to the baptism of Jesus and other related holy sites. These explanations coincide with the results of the archaeological excavations and with the biblical verses as well [Wilkinson, 1977]
