Abstract

Abstract This study assessed a community-based learning program in a firstyear general education seminar devoted to civic engagement and critical analysis of social issues. It investigated student attitudes and themes in students' policy papers. The results indicate that community-based learning strengthens political awareness and social justice attitudes and fosters political knowledge.
