Abstract

SUMMARY This article outlines the development of Computer Assisted Learning at NIHE, Limerick, the resources available to the Department of Educational Technology for the development and delivery of CAL and the range of approaches followed by the Department. The author goes on to discuss the present advantages and limitations of CAL and the disciplines required to produce good quality instructional software (courseware). The approaches to CAL development at NIHE, Limerick are explained and operational conclusions drawn from various courseware development projects undertaken by the Department.
