Abstract

The detailed gravimetric geoid of Kenya was computed on Geodetic Reference System 1980 (GRS80) using a combination of satellite-derived potential coefficients and terrestrial gravity data. The long-wavelength component of geoidal undulation was computed using GEM10B potential coefficients. The short-wavelength component giving detail was recovered by carrying out a numerical integration of the Stokes integral using the difference between terrestrial mean free air gravity anomalies and corresponding values implied by GEM10B potential coefficients. Integration was extended over a spherical cap of 8° from the integration area. The two components were summed to obtain the detailed geoid undulations.
