Abstract

As an important metric of observing heart rate changes, electrocardiogram (ECG) can reflect the current changes in heart rate in real time, and is an important basis for predicting cardiovascular diseases. This paper presents a portable ECG monitoring node with small size, low power consumption and long-term real-time monitoring ability. With the raw data amplified, filtered and A/D converted, the effective ECG data is obtained, and then transmitted to the Android client through the HC-06 Bluetooth module, which can be continuously updated on the client. The heart rate and ECG waveform updated per second allowing the user to observe their heart rate changes in real time and their physical conditions. Due to the specific design of signal processing unit, the proposed ECG monitoring node can achieve low power consumption and portability. The experimental results show that the node is suitable for long-term ECG monitoring in all kinds of environments with energy-efficient ability.
