Abstract

The current study aimed to reveal the degree of including the constructional learning competencies in chemistry books for higher basic stage in Jordan. The descriptive analytical approach was used. The sample of the study consisted of the chemistry books for ninth and tenth grades in Jordan for the year 2018-2019 with their first and second parts. The results of the study indicated that the constructional learning competencies that should be included in the chemistry books for ninth and tenth grades in Jordan, totaling (10) constructional learning competencies, namely: (Excitement and activation, observation, exploration, interpretation, expansion, conclusion, extension, exchange of ideas, decision making, evaluation). The results have also shown that the total number of the frequencies as a whole in the first part was 160, (36.2%). For the second semester, the number of the frequencies as a whole was (80) percentage points (18.1%). The study recommended the need to increase the attention of the staff to the development of curricula by increasing the percentage of subjects that require the development of hypotheses and building on them to obtain new results.
