Abstract

Objective To explore the current status and influencing factors of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with acute spinal cord injury (ASCI) . Methods Totally 147 ASCI patients admitted in West China Hospital, Sichuan University between December 2015 and May 2016 were selected and investigated with the DVT incidence and relevant factor questionnaire for ASCI patients. Results Totally 14 patients out of the 147 patients sustained thrombosis, accounting for 9.5%. The Logistic regression analysis showed that patients' blood type, history of thrombosis and concurrent paraplegia were the main factors that influenced the incidence of vein thrombosis (P<0.05) . Conclusions ASCI patients are at high risk of vein thrombosis. Therefore, we need to make greater efforts to prevent and control thrombosis in ASCI patients whose blood type is not O and who have the history of thrombosis and paraplegia.
