The Current Situation in Cuba and the Process of Change

Abstract

Presently of the most worrisome themes in Cuba is the impact on the Cuban reality of the of change and reform that has been taking place in socialist Europe. Obviously what happened in Eastern Europe is a complicated problem about which there are many points of view and ways of focusing on it or interpreting it. For this reason I will try to give a panoramic view accompanied by personal reflection about the situation in Cuba. In 1986 moment of reflection occurred within the revolutionary in Cuba. I say one because it has not been the only one. If we do an analysis of the historical developments of the Cuban Revolution, we can identify various moments in which a critical reflection about the revolution was made and an evaluation regarding the work that needed to be carried out was made. I believe the present of will not be the last revision of errors and negative tendencies to be identified in the Cuban reality. For various reasons it is an error to believe that this that is developing in Cuba is a consequence of perestroika and the changes occurring in socialist Europe. The first reason is that what is happening in Cuba preceded the moment of the of restructuring in the Soviet Union so that the Cuban rectification process refers to the criticism of a number of errors that are being committed in the country and have their own logic, or in other words, that are not directly tied to the developing changes in Eastern Europe. This of has not referred exclusively to the revision of the economic organization but includes all of the social spheres as well.
