Abstract

The arrowhead sign, which is obtained after the administration of oral and/or rectal contrast material, is seen on computed tomographic (CT) images as an arrowhead-shaped collection of contrast medium localized to the upper part of the cecum near the orifice of the appendix (1). An air-arrowhead sign has also been described, which refers to a collection of air rather than of contrast medium at the same location (1).
