Abstract

Transvaginal ultrasound guided follicle aspiration (USFA) is the most common outpatient surgical procedure in assisted reproduction & its use is increasing annually. The anesthetic goals are to minimize patient anxiety, pain, & movement while avoiding any deleterious effect on oocyte quality and the potential for pregnancy. Our center utilizes a propofol based protocol though dosing can vary greatly between patients. Our primary objective was to determine the relationship between serum levels of estradiol (E2), which can theoretically alter medication metabolism, & requirements for propofol (P).
