Abstract

The reflection cross section of thermal neutrons as a microscopic parameter for the characterization of the reflection property of substances has been introduced. With a knowledge of this parameter for different elements the sensitivity of bulk hydrogen analysis by neutrons can be determined even for complex matrices. In addition, the quality control of organic and inorganic compounds containing hydrogen is possible.
