Abstract

The purpose of this study is the comparison of students epistemological beliefs based on gender, discipline and academic levels. Statistical Population included all students of Islamic Azad University that were selected by multi stage cluster sampling. Research instrument was Schommer epistemological beliefs questionnaire. The results showed that students of different disciplines have significant differences in epistemological beliefs of simple knowledge and certain knowledge, but there is no difference in other dimensions. The comparison of students epistemological beliefs based on academic levels also showed that other than simple knowledge and omniscient authority, other dimensions have significant differences in academic levels. The comparison of girls and boys epistemological beliefs showed that girls believe in certain knowledge more than boys but It was seen no difference in other dimensions.
