Abstract

Mary Daly, Ph.D. and S.T.D., is an associate professor of theology at Boston College and the author of The Church and the Second Sex (1968). In the spring of 1969, she was refused promotion and tenure and given a terminal contract; however, after a student protest she was given promotion and tenure. She is an active lecturer and leader in women's liberation activities, both on the campus of Boston College and nationally as a member of the National Organization for Women (NOW).
