Abstract

The rates of reaction, under the influence of light, of the sulphuric acid esters of several leuco vat dyes have been measured in the presence of different amounts of hydrogen peroxide. The results can be explained if light causes hydrolysis of the sulphuric ester to the leuco vat dye, and it has been possible to demonstrate this reaction by spectroscopic identification of leuco dye.
