Abstract
The changing role of women in families and their housing needs: a case study of Port Harcourt shows the significance of the contribution made by low-income women in Nigeria to household income and to meeting household expenditures. Nevertheless, women's needs and priorities are ignored by those planning the design and location of houses, neighbourhoods and services.
