Abstract

Abstract The Willow Warbler is unusual in that adults undergo primary moult twice a year, a post-nuptial moult immediately before migration southwards and a moult in the winter quarters. This paper analyses primary moult data from Finland, two localities in Britain, Uganda and Southern Africa. The parameters of moult (mean starting date, synchronisation and duration) at each locality are estimated using the techniques of Underhill & Zucchini (1988 Ibis 130: 358–372). The results from each locality are compared.
